The Road Home Documentary on housing and homelessness in Washtenaw County

The Ann Arbor Housing Commission has partnered with Kameron Donald of Breyko, (who also created A Letter to the West Side) to document how our local housing and homeless systems work (and where it needs improvement) in Washtenaw County. The stories in the film will help the community have a better understanding of the systems surrounding mental health, housing insecurity, and homelessness in Washtenaw County.

Our goal with The Road Home has always been bigger than a film. This project is about uniting organizations and communities to better understand the challenges and create solutions for people who need help the most. Even before the public screenings begin, the documentary has already sparked important conversations among local leaders, organizations, and residents about how we move forward together.

Beginning April 23, 2026, we will be hosting multiple screenings throughout Washtenaw County, starting with our first 2 public screening at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor on April 23rd and May 7th at 6pm followed by a screening at EMU’s Student Center on May 20th at 6pm.
