The Back Nine Ann Arbor Opens in Huron Village September 24

Locally owned indoor golf club brings three Full Swing simulator bays and year-round play to Washtenaw Avenue

ANN ARBOR, Mich., September 8, 2026

The Back Nine Ann Arbor, a locally owned indoor golf club at 3227 Washtenaw Ave., Suite D in Huron Village, opens to the public on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Founding members will be welcomed into the club as early as September 19th.

The club is owned by Ann Arbor residents Melissa Gratzinger and Adam Allen. Gratzinger is a longtime Ann Arbor business owner and chamber member who has led Ann Arbor Counseling Associates since 2012. The Back Nine Ann Arbor is the couple's first venture together.

The Back Nine Ann Arbor runs three bays on Full Swing technology, the same simulator platform used on professional tours. One bay is a fully closed-door private bay. The other two are built with high ceilings and deep bay design so each feels like its own space. Members on the Birdie and Eagle tiers have 24/7 access, and members get priority on every tee time. The membership is capped on purpose so the club stays a club.

"I wanted to try golf for years but didn't know where to begin," Gratzinger said. "No one in my circle played, and I was too intimidated to show up somewhere alone. Adam showed me a few basics at a driving range, and we started going to indoor simulators for date nights. We loved it, but the cost and the limited hours made it hard to keep going. We built the place we wished existed. Michigan gives you about five months of outdoor golf. The Back Nine gives you the other seven."

Allen, who has played since his early teens, led the simulator and bay design. "I know what a good simulator feels like, and Full Swing is the real thing," Allen said. "Full Swing's install team told us this club is one of their favorite layouts they've done. We didn't build a golf bar. We built a club where the game and the people playing it get taken care of."

The club follows a full hospitality model. Members and guests bring their own food and beverages, use the in-bay fridge, and order delivery from any restaurant in town.

Programming at opening includes lessons with a teaching professional, structured lesson packages for new golfers, a winter league, and corporate memberships with wellness and networking tracks for Ann Arbor businesses. Bay sponsorships are available for local companies.

Membership is offered in three tiers: Par, Birdie, and Eagle. Founding memberships, available through the public opening, give members a fixed percentage off their tier's standard rate for life. The discount follows the tier rate rather than freezing a dollar amount. The Founding Top Ten, limited to ten Birdie and ten Eagle memberships, carries the deepest discount the club will ever offer and includes reserved wood-paneled lockers.

Membership details, founding rates, and demo bookings are available at thebackninegolf.com by going to the Ann Arbor - Huron Village location.
