TheRide Introduces Fiscal Year 2027 Budget Proposal, Welcomes Public Comment

ANN ARBOR, MI – The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide) will present their Fiscal Year 2027 draft budget at the August 20 Board of Director’s meeting and will hold a public hearing at this meeting for all persons interested in the budget. TheRide’s 2027 fiscal year runs from October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027.

The Fiscal Year 2027 Draft Budget is balanced, which means revenues are sufficient to cover expenses during the fiscal year. It funds continued operations at full-service levels and includes no fare changes. The budget supports TheRide’s Corporate Business Plan by maintaining existing services, advancing the approved Long-Range Plan, and continuing investment in internal process improvements. Financial assumptions are reasonably conservative, and the budget is built to maintain current services as costs continue to rise.

“We’re presenting a balanced budget that maintains every service our riders count on today, with no change in fares,” said Dina Reed, Deputy CEO of Finance and Administration. “The current millage approved by voters in 2022 is in place through 2028 and provides a stable foundation for operations as we continue the work outlined in our Long-Range Plan. We’re confident this budget will sustain services for TheRide’s customers in the year ahead.”
