A Journey of Service, Gratitude, and the American Ideal with Rear Admiral (Ret.), Huan Nguyen.

The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library will host a special public program featuring Rear Admiral (Ret.) Huan Nguyen on July 1 at 6:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The event will highlight Nguyen’s powerful personal story of escaping Vietnam, rebuilding his life in America, and serving more than 30 years in the U.S. Navy.

Nguyen, the first Vietnamese American promoted to Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy, will reflect on President Gerald Ford’s leadership during the 1975 refugee crisis and the compassion shown to his family after arriving in the United States. His presentation will explore themes of patriotism, belonging, public service, and the American ideal.

Ford Library Director Brooke Clement praised Nguyen’s remarkable journey, noting that President Ford’s humanitarian efforts helped bring Nguyen to America, where he later dedicated his life to serving the nation.

The free event will include a dessert reception following the program and will also be livestreamed on YouTube. Registration is encouraged through the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum website.
