JOB DESCRIPTION: ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Classification: Full-Time Exempt / Supervisor Level
Salary: $50,000–$60,000

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Associate Director (AD) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Clubhouse, ensuring a steadfast commitment to mental health recovery and a culture of empowerment. This role bridges high-level strategic vision with hands-on engagement, overseeing the work-ordered day, transitional employment, and program fidelity. The AD fosters a sense of community among members, staff , and Clubhouse administrators while maintaining strict compliance with International Clubhouse Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education: At a minimum, a bachelor's degree in a health or human services field and licensure (or eligibility for licensure), certification, or registration by the State of Michigan or a national organization to provide health care services, with two years' experience working at a Clubhouse accredited by Clubhouse International; or a master's degree in a health or human services field with appropriate licensure and experience working at a Clubhouse.
Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working with adults with mental illness, with at least one (1) year of experience specifically in a Clubhouse setting.
Training: Must be willing to complete a two-week Clubhouse International Comprehensive Clubhouse training at an approved site and maintain ongoing professional development, including symptom identification and crisis intervention, within the first year of employment.
Compliance: Valid driver’s license and a good driving record (must be at least 25 years old for insurance purposes). A background check, drug screen, and TB test are required.
*Other diverse and uniquely qualified professional staff, typically with a bachelor's degree, may be considered. If staff are not licensed, certified, or registered by the State of Michigan or a national organization to provide health care services, they shall operate under the supervision of a qualified professional.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leadership & Culture
Culture of Gentleness: Create and maintain an environment that expects recovery and promotes gentleness in all interactions.
Fidelity & Standards: Promote and ensure strict adherence to the Clubhouse International Quality Standards.
Member Engagement: Lead work units alongside members, ensuring that the "Work-Ordered Day" is engaging and empowering, helping members regain self-worth, purpose, and confidence.
2. Personnel Management & Development
Supervision: Provide direct supervision to Social Practitioners and Clubhouse staff .
Performance Standards: Collaboratively identify and measure staff performance through regular competency assessments and professional development plans.
Training & Orientation: Collaborate with the Executive Director and membership in the hiring, orientation, and training of new personnel, interns, and volunteers, focusing on member ownership and Clubhouse philosophy.
3. Program Operations & Transitional Employment
Member Goal Facilitation: Collaborate with a caseload of 15–20 members to set and review recovery goals monthly. This includes completing progress reports and documentation in a timely manner and assisting new and existing staff members with the documentation process.
TEP Coordination: Support the employment development and maintenance of Transitional Employment Positions (TEP). This includes providing on-site job coaching and assisting with member transportation to work sites when necessary.
Administrative Oversight: Assist with embedding administrative processes into routine Clubhouse work to fulfi ll requirements related to billing and documentation, ensuring continuous revenue and Medicaid compliance.
Quality Improvement: In partnership with the Executive Director, monitor and evaluate program performance to facilitate expansion and service improvements.

ACCOUNTABILITY & EVALUATION
Accountability: This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Evaluation: Performance evaluations will be conducted by the Executive Director at least annually, focusing on clinical fidelity, staff development, and program sustainability.
