United Way of Washtenaw County - 2016 Power of the Purse Event

The Women’s Leadership Initiative of the United Way of Washtenaw County is thrilled to announce our annual Power of the Purse event happening on Wednesday March 9, 2016, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center Grand Ballroom.

Each year, the Women's Leadership Initiative hosts this fabulous special event, which brings together women from our community for an evening of wonderful food and fabulous purses. Funds raised from this event help fund grants that will allow women in our community to achieve their potential. 

In 2015, the Women’s Leadership Initiative was able to grant $27,280 to five local non-profit agencies supporting women. Through the Power of the Purse, we are building a group of dynamic business and community leaders who are committed to igniting the power of women to advance the common good.  

Each year the Women's Leadership Initiative encourages the community to honor any woman living and working in Washtenaw County who deserves recognition for her work on behalf of women and their families. We are thrilled to announce that the 2016 Woman of the Year is Michigan's First Lady Sue Snyder. Join us in celebrating this amazing local woman, and supporting our community at this year's Power of the Purse on March 9th!
