Great Lakes Bat Festival
The festival celebrates the unique role of bats in the Great Lakes ecosystem while dispelling myths and misinformation that generate needless fears and threaten bats and their habitats around the world. The festival provides a fun and interactive environment where people can discover the importance and uniqueness of bats.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
· Participate in hands-on science activities
· Build bat houses for our national forests as part of National Public Lands Day
· Meet acclaimed Stellaluna author, Janell Cannon
· See live bats from around the world including giant flying foxes and Vampire bats
· “Be-a-Bat-Scientist” with local bat experts
· Meet a life-size Stellaluna
· Explore the “Bat Cave”
· Participate in nature-themed educational exhibits and bat-themed activities
