A2Y DEI Series Event: How to become a DEI Advocate in the Workplace
"Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advocate"
Please join us on September 12 for an interactive and engaging session with Interim Chief Diversity Officer, Dr. Doris J. Fields. Dr. Fields' presentation will provide an overview of how to become a DEI Advocate in the workplace. She will focus on DEI advocacy strategies, including increasing employee engagement, acceptance of others, and addressing barriers to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
She will also talk about microaggressions, help us to understand what they are, provide us with examples of how to respond to them, and will offer strategies on how to deal with them. Some people aren't even aware of when they have caused a microagression against someone and the one who the microagression has been committed against, doesn't always know how to respond. We will create a dialogue that generates a better understanding and resolution for all.
These sessions are an opportunity to learn from one another, support one another, and garner a better understanding and empathy for what others go through.
Whether you, or your organization, are just getting started on your DEI journey, or even if you have a good comprehension of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, this session is for you and anyone that wants to learn. We welcome your participation and encourage you to ask questions and share your experiences during these open sessions.
