Impact 2019 The Way Forward on the Workforce Pipeline Starts with Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Creativity Based on the success of the Workforce Pipeline Summit (WPS) in March, Impact 2019 will provide our business community with fantastic engagement experiences and other valuable tools for success. These include a panel discussion to highlight practical lessons from diversity and inclusion (D&I) efforts in the private, non-profit, and public sectors. Our keynote speaker will tell us more about how businesses can benefit from D&I, and how to take the first steps to integrate them into your organization. Rich Chang, A2Y Chamber Board Chair, will also provide the path forward on how our community can develop a 10-year plan for implementing the concepts discussed at the WPS. In addition, we will have two unique networking experiences (facilitated by Engage and including key Creative Class companies) at the front-end (8 am-9 am #justdontcallitnetworking) and back-end (1pm-3pm #justdontcallitajobfair) of the event.

Panel Discussion: Lessons from the Different Sectors

As we heard at the WPS, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity are not feel-good measures, they are key to the success of any organization. The next tool Impact will provide will be to better understand how to implement equity and inclusion in your hiring practices, your organizational culture, and your overall relationship with your community.   The first step will be a panel discussion and audience interaction with leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors to discuss lessons learned and actions to take. Impact will give a big-picture look at what we learned in March at the groundbreaking Workforce Pipeline Summit, and share the next steps to translate that knowledge into a ten-year plan of action. Rich Chang, CEO of NewFoundry and the A2Y Chamber Board Chair will present on the WPS findings and the framework for the next actions to develop the ten-year plan.  He will also answer audience questions about the process.

With resources from the State of Michigan’s Creative Chambers initiative, the A2Y Chamber is working with Brooke Boyle, founder of Engage, to provide two opportunities for creative class engagement.  At 8:00 am, join us for Professional Collisions with Engage. Facilitated by Brooke, this introvert-friendly session will allow you to meet more attendees in less time so you can kick-start your day with meaningful connections and visibility into who else is in the room that you would not have otherwise met.

After the Impact program finishes, join us for Creative Collisions with Engage and EMU. This is a #justdontcallitajobfair session - where talent and opportunity meet. Building on the professional connections and following a similar structure established in the morning, you'll have a chance to be curious and meet the curious as creative professionals, alumni, and students have a chance to share about their projects and pursuits in the creative sector. You will leave with new connections and perspective of what professional opportunity looks like and how you can help and be helped!
