The program will give you the starting point to learn what mobility technology is, what it will become, and how its impact will change both the business community specifically, and our society generally.

Understanding the Reality of Mobility

Sam Abuelsamid, senior analyst for Navigant Research?s Transportation Efficiencies program, will give us an in-depth look at the global background of mobility to set the baseline for Our Mobility Future. We will learn about what mobility really is, dispel common myths and misconceptions, and broaden our outlook as we begin this series.

Michigan?s Role in Reshaping the World

Kirk T. Steudle, Director of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Interim Director of the American Center for Mobility will give us a broad look at how Michigan?s people and institutions can build on the state?s success in putting the world on wheels by shaping Our Mobility Future.

With Our Mobility Future, the Chamber will guide our community through a four-part series of dialogues and interactions to truly define and embrace the future of mobility. We will define an ambiguous term to provide a common understanding of what it is and what it may become. This means understanding the changes ahead for how we drive, the transportation we use, the financial and regulatory structures we operate in, the jobs we create, and the face of our culture. Our Mobility Future will feature four parts:

Our Current Landscape: Impact 2018 will lay the framework for Our Mobility Future and allow you to understand the current landscape of mobility.

Reshaping the Future: In early 2019, the Chamber will provide an experience on the impacts mobility will have not just on transportation, but on the related components of daily life.

The Benefits of a Mobility Economy: Our Spring 2019 event will give you the chance to understand how to benefit from the opportunities that mobility will provide for research, commercialization, and job creation.

Our Coming Framework: A June 2019 event will focus on how our nation?s new mobility future will lead to changes in our legal and financial structures.
