SUMMARY:Gilbert Residence Ribbon Cutting for New Memory Wing
DESCRIPTION:Ypsilanti\, Michigan (May 2013). The Gilbert Residence is pleased to launch the grand opening of its new memory wing with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday\, May 31 from 3:00 4:00pm. \n\n\n\nDerek McGill\, CEO and Administrator stated\, "There are multiple stages of dementia that a person goes through. Our responsibility is to provide the highest quality of life at each stage. It is critical for us to focus on what the resident can do instead of what he or she cannot do. The new memory care wing will allow us to provide services\, amenities\, and the highest quality of care possible to our residents."\n\n\n\nToday more than 5.3 million Americans are diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or other related dementias. It is predicted that by the year 2050 these numbers will rise to more than 16 million. Treatment and support for people with dementia and their caregivers is a critical issue in our community and current resources do not meet the growing demand. The Gilbert Residence seeks to help remedy this for the seniors in the Ypsilanti area who need help. "We have an obligation to help meet this need in the Ypsilanti community\, and we welcome the opportunity" mentioned McGill.\n\n\n\nInvesting more than $7 million in our community\, the memory support wing incorporates the latest innovations in dementia care proven to produce better therapeutic outcomes for residents. Additionally\, current facilities will be updated and a bistro style eatery\, movie theatre\, library\, lounge\, game room\, and wellness center will be created.\n\n\n\nFor more information about the Gilbert Residence or how you can support the memory campaign\, please contact Doreen Mannino at 734.482.9498 (ext. 121) or doreenm@gilbertresidence.com.\n\n\n\nThe Gilbert Residence\, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation\, has been serving the Ypsilanti community since 1960. At the Gilbert Residence\, individual rights\, dignity and choices are highly regarded with the utmost respect preserving basic human rights. Its mission is to continue a tradition of excellence by providing compassionate and dignified care for seniors in our community.
