DESCRIPTION:"DEI Journey Up the Continuum"\n\n\n\nChanging the Way We Think About Diversity and Inclusion\n\n\nIn our last session\, we discussed the basics of what Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion is and what DEI is not. We talked about temperament\, personality similarities and differences\, and how they impact human interaction. We also talked about how to create a vision statement for DEI in business. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, we will build upon the last session and go more in depth into establishing the right commitment of Diversity at Work for an inclusive workplace. \n\n\n\nDescription: In the last several years\, the spotlight has been on diversity and inclusion. There is a need to level set around diversity and inclusion and what this means in the workplace setting. This session will explore the facets of diversity\, what inclusion looks like and feels like in action and look at best practices in fostering inclusion in the workplace and promoting a culture where employees learn about one another\, share experiences and grow both personally and professionally.\n\n \n#DEIA2Y\n \n\nGuest Speaker\n\n\n\nBridget G. Hurd\n\nBlue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan\n\n \n\nMs. Hurd is the Vice President\, Inclusion and Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan\, where she is responsible for leading and executing the corporate inclusion and diversity strategy for Blue Cross and its subsidiaries and shaping a culture of inclusion. She also leads the Office of Health and Health Care Disparities with a vision of Better Health for All which focuses on achieving health equity in the delivery of\, quality and access to care. Ms. Hurd facilitates the enterprise's Diversity Leadership Councils\, Physician Diversity Council and oversees diversity and cultural competency learning opportunities for employees\, Inclusion and Diversity coaching programs\, 15 employee resource networks and the integration of an inclusion and diversity lens in providing service to members and customers.\n\n\n\nWith more than 25 years of progressive experience in inclusion and diversity\, health equity\, community relations\, and corporate social responsibility\, Bridget Hurd has worked in the health care industry helping to facilitate stronger linkages among the community and health care institutions\, addressing health inequities and driving cultural transformation in the health care community and among employees. She is a graduate of Wayne State University where she obtained a Master of Business Administration degree and the University of Michigan where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications. \n\n \n\nBridget is a phenomenal speaker and we are pleased to bring her to you to share her expertise and knowledge.
