“GREY GARDENS is more than a unique and unmissable musical: It's a gift." —Rolling Stone
Grey Gardens is the hilarious and heartbreaking story of Big Edie and Little Edie Bouvier Beale, the eccentric aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, once bright names on the social register who became East Hampton’s most notorious recluses. Based in part on the cult-classic documentary “Grey Gardens”, Grey Gardens--the musical--focuses first on the pair in 1941, when they were the cream of East Hampton society. Behind the glittering and glamorous exterior of Grey Gardens and the family’s social whirl, we begin to see cracks in the foundations. The second act takes place in 1973, where the pair is living reclusively among cats and raccoons in the squalor that once was the beautiful estate, Grey Gardens.
“Grey Gardens is a pop culture phenomenon,” says director Edmond Reynolds. “The secret to this musical’s success is the mixing of two key ingredients: the hilarious dialogue and the heartbreaking, haunting score.”
Musical direction for Grey Gardens is by Tyler Driskill, with choreography by Rachel Francisco. The talented cast features Kathy Waugh as Big Edie in Act I and Little Edie in Act II, Thalia Schramm as Little Edie in Act I, and Laurie Atwood as Big Edie in Act II. The cast also includes Charlie Sutherland, Sebastian Gerstner, Kevin Douglass, Christopher Joseph, Maeve Donevan, and Audrey Waugh.
