A2SO Fundraiser Hearts for the Arts Raises Over $80,000 for Music Education Programs

Ann Arbor - Over 30,000 area schoolchildren are cheering their thanks for the community’s active and direct help to make the A2SO music happen in Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland and Livingston Counties. The wonderful participation of Hearts for the Arts donors is a key reason that the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra can serve 7% of Michigan’s in-school programs.

A2SO artistic education – including the two daytime Youth Concerts for over 5,000 area youngsters, two Family Concerts, 50+ Ensembles in the Classroom, 3,000 two- to six-year olds at our KinderConcerts, a side-by-side concert in Pinckney; and, over 25 Arie visits to teach leadership, conducting skills and music-making – youngsters learn the value of the arts and grow lifetime skill sets such as critical problem solving and judgment, active imagineering, and cooperation and commitment.

The Hearts for the Arts fundraising goal was $70,000 and the A2SO is happy to report that with the community’s generous bids and monetary donations a record breaking success of over $80,000 was raised – giving the A2SO the ability to serve more than 30,000 youngsters in the 2013-14 academic year.
