Full Time, Salaried, 40-45 hours/week

Salary range: $40,000 - $45,000 per year

The Graphic Designer I position assists the Creative Services team to implement a variety of design projects.  This position reports to the Design Manager.


Performance Expectations - Essential Functions

  • Assists and implements creative design projects such as flyers/posters, store signage, newsletters, packaging, logos, social media assets, and other marketing collateral.
  • Maintains the Zingerman's Look and Feel in all aspects of design work
  • Assists the Creative Services team and Zingerman's businesses to complete design projects that achieve results in Zingerman's three bottom lines (great service, great finance and great food)
  • Uses prepress and printing processes, and works to maintain relationships with vendors
  • Uses and applies digital marketing best practices
  • Collaborates on a multitude of projects at varying scales and stages
  • Researches packaging, printing, and paper for projects
  • Contributes fresh ideas and new perspective to projects
  • Meets or exceeds deadlines of design projects
  • Communicates regularly with all involved parties related to design projects
  • Provides great service with every interaction
  • Follows and maintains Standard Operating Processes
  • Participates in annual planning with the Creative Services team
  • Attends and participates in department and business meetings
  • Completes all required training in a timely manner
     

Other Functions:

  • May manage projects as needed
  • Teaches an internal Zingerman's class (required after 2 years of employment)
  • May participate on a Zingerman's Committee or Workgroup
  • Attends Zingerman's events and learnings
     

The Success Patterns for this position are:

  • Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field is preferred
  • 2 years experience in graphic design with an emphasis on maintaining brand standards
  • Strong portfolio of illustrations, graphics and design work
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Knowledge of typography, color and production
  • Successful experience completing complex projects with numerous collaborators
  • Demonstrated experience completing projects on time
  • Experience working with owners and managers of small to large businesses
  • Knowledgeable about the impact on sales of a well-designed piece
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
