WXW Panel on Big Dreams and Bold Choices - How I Did It
Is there something that you’ve always wanted to do? Maybe it’s a goal you strive to reach. Or a major change you are itching to make – but you’re anxious about it.
What if it doesn’t work? What if you hate it? What will your friends and family say?
Whether you have a life-changing choice on your horizon or you just want to be inspired by a few bold women, we invite you to join WXW on Tuesday, September 13, hosted by Ann Arbor Spark. You’ll participate in a lively panel discussion with four amazing women who each made a bold choice to change (or challenge!) their career path.
The panelists:
Meet Rachel Blistein, creator of Original Moxie. When Rachel couldn’t find safe products that worked for her natural hair, she made her own, launching a business along the way. And now Original Moxie’s customizable, all natural hair care line can be found in salons and retail stores across the country (Plum Market, anyone?)
As Director of the Executive MBA Program at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Joyce Mueller was in a top position at one of the top b-schools in the country. So what made her leap off the corporate ladder and buy a manufacturing business in Chicago?
HR Director Kelly Jackson has been with her company for twenty years as it grew from 50 to 500 employees and from one office to 10. And on the side, she just happens to be building asoftware company. Find out how she juggles two roles and the superpower she credits with helping her achieve career and a business opportunities.
Praveena Ramaswami was a rising star at Toyota-CALTY, heading up their Ann Arbor Design Studio Administration & Facility. After becoming involved in her community, she made a big decision to use her powers and skills for good. Two years ago Praveena leaned back in her career to lean 100% into her community and her family. Today, Praveena runs her own company, Mamaswami Connects, serves on several community boards, is a City of Ann Arbor Parks Commissioner and is fully immersed in her daughters’ activities.
Together, we’ll talk about:
-
How to weigh your options to pick the one that fits the lifestyle you want.
-
Why defying the expectations of others (and even your own) can be so hard.
-
How to use your purpose to power yourself through challenges.
-
That your choices are not always “either/or.” Sometimes it’s “and both.”
