Emiko Hastings of the Clements Library Speaks at Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor
Please join Ann Arbor Kiwanians as Emiko Hastings, Curator of Books at the Clements Library, discusses the history of the library, some highlights of its collections, and its current building renovation project. The William L. Clements Library is a University of Michigan library that houses original resources for the study of American history and culture from the fifteenth through the nineteenth century. Its mission is to collect and preserve primary source materials, to make them available for research, and to create an environment that supports and encourages scholarly investigation of our nation's past.
As curator, Ms. Hastings manages the operations of the Book Division and works with the Rare Book Cataloger to set cataloging policies and procedures. Her responsibilities include purchasing books for the collection; giving class presentations about the library's primary source materials; assisting researchers with the book collection; setting cataloging policies; and overseeing management of the rare book collection. She is also responsible for updating library website content and maintaining the Clements Library Chronicles, the library’s news and information blog.
