Plante Moran, PLLC, one of the nation’s largest public accounting and business advisory firms, will present a seminar on Creating a Sustainable Organization: A Roadmap for Seamless Leadership Transitions on Thursday, February 9th at the Sheraton in Ann Arbor. Organizations are discovering that planning for leadership transitions is a key to their long-term sustainability. Participants at this seminar will learn how their organization can leverage insights from one of Fortune Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work for 13 years running.
The presentation will be led by Bill Hermann, CPA, who helped launch the firm’s Ann Arbor office in 1981 and then served as Ann Arbor’s Office Managing Partner. He was
Plante Moran’s firm-wide managing partner from 2001 to 2009 and is now the practice group leader of Plante Moran’s Services Group. Hermann, an Ann Arbor resident, is the co-author, with current Plante Moran Managing Partner Gordon Krater, CPA, of the recently published book, Succession Transition: A Roadmap for Seamless Transitions. In 2008, Plante Moran completed the transition process from one managing partner (Hermann) to the next (Krater) for the fifth time since 1950. Both Hermann and Krater were prepared for their roles in the transition because of processes that have been in place at Plante Moran for decades.
The seminar will offer business transition insights and best practices from the book, with a special focus on the six key areas that serve as a framework for creating sustainable and healthy organizations, a necessity for any successful leadership transition:
· Organizational culture
· Communication and recognition
· Leadership selection
· Development
· Experiential learning
· Mentoring
Plante Moran’s Ann Arbor Office Managing Partner, Kevin Flattery, CPA, will serve as the moderator.
