Parenting Children on the Spectrum: a series of lectures and discussion topics to educate and guide parents of young children with ASD to cope with new diagnoses, establish a therapeutic plan for the child and help the child succeed in developing peer relationships and entering school on a positive note.
Understanding ABA Therapy
Learn preventative measures and general universal supports for individuals with ASD, how to use reinforcement, how to determine why challenging behaviors occur and how to modify the environment to promote positive behavior and skill acquisition. We will discuss Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), a basic overview of the research that supports ABA and how ABA can work for families with individuals on the Autism spectrum.
Emily Besecker, M.S., B.C.B.A. is the Behavior Services Supervisor at Judson Center. She received her Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University and has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for two years.
Shannon Leveille, M.A., L.P.C. is a counselor with Judson Center Royal Oak. She obtained her Masters in Counseling from Eastern Michigan University and holds a Professional Counseling License from the State of Michigan (LPC).
